The Community Development Department provides a range of planning, development, building and public safety services including:

Corporate Services provides a variety of Council, operational and employee support functions such as:

  • Coordinate Council meetings, distribute agendas and record minutes
  • Office of Primary Responsibility for Municipal by-laws and policies

  • Staffing and employee wellness

Engineering & Public Works

The Engineering & Public Works Department protects human health and the environment, and maintains municipal public property in the Municipality of Chester. Staff are available to meet your needs concerning:

Recreation & Parks

The Recreation & Parks Department provides a variety of quality recreational and community support programs, events and services to residents and local non-profit organizations that include:

  • Active transportation and trails
  • Community school bookings
  • Community group support, such as event advertising, equipment loans (data projector, sandwich boards, etc.), and photocopying
  • Grants and sponsorship funding
  • Games team bookings
  • Outdoor recreation programming and activities
  • Recreation instruction

Solid Waste

Kaizer Meadow Environmental Management Centre at 450 Kaizer Meadow Road in Sherwood, approximately 17 km north of Exit 8, Highway #103

The Solid Waste Department provides cost effective services to our residents in the collection, recycling and disposal of household and commercial waste. Services include:

  • Managing the Kaizer Meadow Eco-Industrial Park and COMFIT wind turbine
  • Bi-weekly collection of regular waste for residents and businesses
  • Regular collection of bulky waste for residents and businesses
  • Annual collection of Christmas trees and leaves/yard waste
  • Disposal of hazardous waste, construction & demolition material, tires, septic waste, and yard waste
