We are nominating him for this award for his continuing role on the NRRDS Christmas Festival Committee. He has for over 25 years been in charge of sourcing the Christmas Tree and the wreaths that decorate our community for the Christmas Festival. Local tree growers will contact him if they have a tree they want to donate. He keeps a list of trees and then goes out to tree lots to look at them and take pictures. Once the committee chooses a tree, he arranges to have it cut and delivered to the site, stood up and decorated. Margeson orders the wreaths from a local business and then canvasses local businesses, groups and families to sponsor" the wreaths. He does a great job as he always gets enough sponsors to cover the cost of all the wreaths. After collecting the wreaths, he and his family decorate them with red bows and get them all hung on the poles.

Margeson' s volunteer activities have a huge impact on our community. The New Ross Christmas Festival is run by a small, dedicated group of volunteers and it brings hundreds of visitors to our community every year. The decorated wreaths and the lighted Christmas tree add to the beautification and festive spirit. The Festival is not a fundraiser for the NRRDS as such, but other community groups benefit from the festival by hosting money making events, while businesses and individuals such as restaurants, tree lots, artists and craftspeople benefit from increased business. The community has come to depend on the festival for much needed revenue and Margeson' s work is very much appreciated.
