
Nate is an active volunteer in both the scientific community and our local Chester area. He serves on two taskforces at Dalhousie University: Micro Research Advisory and the Health Accreditation Taskforce. Since 2023, he has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Clinical Research Association of Canada and served as a Scientific Advisor for the National Organization for Rare Diseases. In our community, Nate volunteers with the Chester Playhouse and Chester Yacht Club Race Week.
Since 2012, he has held various roles with Canadian Red Cross, including Personal Disaster Responder, Public Health Advisor, and Safety & Wellbeing Responder, and assisted during Fire Week with the Chester Volunteer Fire Dept. From 2016 to 2023, he served on the Board of Directors for Church Memorial Park and has been a member of Our Health Centre Board of Directors since 2021. He volunteered with Chandler’s Cove LCCC GAS Committee and participated in local Lions Club activities such as Apple Sales and Radio Bingo.
Nate is passionate about giving back to both his professional and personal communities. Nate has engaged in both local and larger community efforts, often being one of the first to volunteer. He has provided support to many individuals and families who have faced personal disasters through his work with the Red Cross. He has contributed to various organizations and helped out during special events. On a broader scale, Nate has been deployed multiple times across Canada with the Red Cross to assist displaced individuals following wildfires and floods.
