NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

In the matter of the Municipal Government Act and the Municipality of the District of Chester

TAKE NOTICE THAT on Thursday, December 14th, 2023, Chester Municipal Council gave 1st Reading to add the following definition and general provision for small option dwellings to the Municipal Land Use By-Law in accordance with Statement of Provincial Interest Regarding Housing: 

a)  Section 2.0 - Add Definition as a sub-definition to the definition for  "Dwelling":
Small Option dwelling:  a type of home licensed under the Homes for Special Care Act, housing up to four residents with developmental, mental health, or physical disabilities. Residents live independently in the community and receive assistive support from staff. Small option dwellings are not considered to be residential care facilities such as continuing care facilities or nursing homes. 

b)  Section 4.0 General Provisions - add the following to the general provision as a sub-section to Section 4.1 Application, Waiver and Exemption: 
4.1.10  Small Option Dwellings
Small option dwellings shall be permitted in all zones where any type of residential use is permitted. 

A PUBLIC HEARING will be held on Thursday, January 11th, 2024 at 8:45 a.m. in Municipal Council Chambers located at 151 King Street, Chester.

Written comments must be received before 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 4th, 2024

Council may vote to approve or reject the proposed rezoning at the conclusion of the Public Hearing.
