The trail bridge that crosses the Gold River in the Municipality of Chester is closed immediately and indefinitely due to public safety concerns identified in a preliminary inspection report received by municipal staff earlier today. The inspection, conducted by a professional engineering firm, revealed multiple structural concerns on the 100 years plus stone bridge.
MOC has barricaded access to the bridge and asks that the public be patient until a more permanent solution be found. We hope to have a plan in place as soon as possible to restore passage over the Gold River for all users.
UPDATE: Council reviewed the Condition Assessment Report for the Gold River Trail Bridge on October 7. Council will continue to examine bridge options, and we will keep you updated as the situation unfolds.
