Amendments were made to the Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use By-Law to add policy, general provision and definition to distinguish Short-Term Rental accommodations from other forms of accommodations.
The amendments include:
- MPS Section 3.0 General Provisions-added new policy G-32 and G-33 specific to Short-term Rental accommodation policies;
- LUB Section 2 Definitions-adding and amending definitions for:
- New Short-term rental definition
- Revised Tourist accommodation definition
- Replaced the Tourist home definition with Tourist Accommodation Unit definition
- LUB Section 4.0 General Provisions-added new Subsection in Section 4.1 Application, Waivers, and Exemptions indicating that STRs are not regulated by the LUB an that no development permit is required, and that STRs are subject to other relevant Municipal policy, by-law(s) or order(s) approved by Council.
These amendments are now in effect.
