Water Program starts immediately

Council for the Municipality of Chester has approved a district-wide water distribution program in light of the seasonably dry conditions and the impact it is having on the quantity and quality of residents’ well water.

The program is effective immediately will provide households experiencing a potable water shortage with 4L of water per day per person per household up to four people. Similar to previous years, the program will be coupon-based and available to MOC residents, who must submit a dry well report form and register their civic address to be eligible. The dry well report form can be completed in person when picking up coupons, ahead of time online using the link on this page, or by calling MOC at 902-275-3554.

Coupons will be accepted at five locations within the Municipality; however, with stores seeing a demand for bottled water, there may be substitutions or limits on daily quantities distributed.

Coupons are available at these locations and times:

  • The Municipal Office, 151 King Street in Chester, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, starting August 29, 2022;
  • District # 1 Community Centre from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., on Wednesdays starting August 31, 2022. Please call Nadine Hackney at 902-275-8503 in advance for an appointment; and
  • The New Ross Community School from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., on Tuesdays starting August 30, 2022. Please call Nadine Hackney at 902-275-8503 in advance for an appointment.

If these locations and times are not convenient, residents are encouraged to contact the Municipal Office at 902-275-3554 to have coupons mailed out or to make other arrangements.

Coupons are good for a two-week period (Monday to Sunday) but will expire on the second Sunday for as long as the program is in place. After expiration, new coupons will be issued for the next program period. The Municipality will assess the situation again on October 6, 2022 to determine if the program will or will not continue.
