Airplane Craft

Materials: large and small popsicle sticks, clothespin, hot glue, markers, or paint for decorations

Directions

  • Glue the large popsicle sticks on one end of the clothespin with one on top and one on the bottom
  • Then glue the small popsicle stick on the other end of the clothespin
  • Let dry and then fly around!

Balloon Tennis

Materials: wooden paint stick, balloons, paper plate, hot glue, markers (for decorations)

Directions

  • Decorate the paper plate as desired
  • Using the hot glue, attach the paper plate to the end of the wooden paint stick
  • Blow up a balloon
  • Hit the balloon around and have fun!

 

Butterfly Craft

Materials: 4 coffee filters, washable markers, pipe cleaners, spray bottle with water

Directions

  • Split the coffee filters into two pairs of two
  • Put each circle on top of the other so that you have two piles of two
  • Decorate the top coffee filter with the markers
  • Place the coffee filters on a surface such as a baking tray and spray them with water
  • The colours will then blend into each other
  • Separate the top coffee filter from the bottom and then let the coffee filters dry
  • When dry, fold each coffee filter in alternate ways, also known as a concertina fold
  • Bring the wings together by pinching the middle to overlap the folds
  • After this, fold the pipe cleaner in half and then wrap it around the centre of both coffee filters
  • Once the coffee filters are secure, fan out each wing of the butterfly to reveal its colours!

Chalk/Homemade Paint

Materials: mixing bowl, measuring cup, food coloring, squeeze bottles (or containers), flour, salt, water, funnel

Directions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of water, 2 cups of salt, and 2 cups of flour to fill up the squeeze bottles or containers.
  • Once combined, use the funnel to put the mixture into the bottles
  • Add the food coloring to the mixture
  • To mix the paint together, shake the bottles
  • Continue adding food coloring until you reach the desired colour
  • Paint away!
  • The paint might separate after sitting for a while. Simply shake the bottles and they will go back to normal!

Glitter Jar

Materials: 16-ounce glass jar or plastic container with a lid, ½ cup of clear glue, distilled water, hot glue gun, 1-2 teaspoons of glitter, food colouring, sequins (optional)

Directions

  • Pour ½ cup of distilled water into the jar
  • Then pour ½ cup of glue into the jar. If desired, colour the glue with a few drops of food colouring
  • Add glitter to the jar and then add the rest of the water to the jar
  • Use a hot glue gun to seal the lid to the jar
  • Give the jar a shake to see the magic!

Jellyfish Craft

Materials: small paper bowl, tissue paper, ribbon, string, googly eyes, glue, tape, scissors

Directions:

  • Cut up your tissue paper into little squares
  • Turn the paper bowl upside down and add glue over the bottom of it
  • Cover the bowl with your cut-up tissue paper and let it dry
  • Poke a hole through the middle of the bowl and attach the string by tying a knot to the end and tape it inside the bowl
  • Attach the ribbon to the inside of the bowl – positioning it so it hangs down like tentacles
  • Attach googly eyes to bring your jellyfish to life!

Monster Craft

Materials: coffee filters, washable markers, spray bottle and water, googley eyes, black card stock, white card stock, scissors, glue

Directions:

  • Colour the filter using the washable markers of your choice
  • Spray the coloured coffee filter with water (make sure to have a    tray underneath so you don’t colour your table)
  • Let the coffee filter dry
  • Cut out shapes with the black and white paper to make the eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, horns, and hair

Paper Plate Flowers

Materials: small paper plates, paint, popsicle sticks, green paper, scissors, glue

Directions

  • Cut small slits into the perimeter of the paper plates to resemble flower petals
  • Paint the popsicle stick green and let dry
  • Paint paper plate as desired and allow to dry
  • Glue the popsicle stick on the back of the paper plate
  • Cut out two leaves from the green paper and glue on either side of the popsicle stick
  • Let dry and create a whole bouquet of flowers!

Penguin Craft with Recycled Bottles

Materials: Plastic bottle, orange and black construction paper, googly eyes, tape, hot glue gun, cotton balls, scissors

Directions

  • Cut out wings with the black construction paper and cut out feet and a beak with the orange construction paper and set aside
  • Stuff the plastic bottle with cotton balls
  • Tape the feet on the bottom of the bottle and the wings on the sides
  • Seal the cap onto the bottle
  • With a hot glue gun, glue the googly eyes to the cap and the beak right underneath the eyes
