NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

In the matter of the Municipal Government Act and the Municipality of the District of Chester
TAKE NOTICE THAT
on Thursday, May 30th, 2024, Chester Municipal Council gave First Reading to consider amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) and Land Use By-Law (LUB) to revise the sections related to radiocommunication facility proposals where a new Municipal Policy has been adopted which amended the process for consultations for new cell towers. 

The proposed amendments include: 

  • MPS Section 3.0 General Land Use Policies for Radiocommunication Facilities (Page 38)-removing references to Canadian Radiocommunication Information Notification Services (CRINS) and add that Council can adopt a policy:
  • LUB Section 4.20-remove reference to CRINS and add that policy would provide the framework for the consultation process
  • LUB Page 57-remove "More Information" section along the margins referencing CRINS

A PUBLIC HEARING will be held on Thursday, June 27th, 2024 at 8:45 a.m. in Municipal Council Chambers located at 151 King Street, Chester.

Residents can give their opinions by speaking at the Public Hearing or sending written comments to: Pamela Myra, Municipal Clerk, PO Box  369, Chester, NS  B0J 1J0 or pmyra@chester.ca.

Written comments must be received before 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

Council may vote to approve or reject the proposed rezoning at the conclusion of the Public Hearing.
