EVACUATION ALERT STEMMING FROM PROPANE LEAK

SUMMARY
An Evacuation Alert has been issued stemming from propane leak on Highway 14 in the vicinity of Bonny Lea Farm in the Municipality of the District of Chester.
DETAILS
There is a propane gas leak in the vicinity of 10 Berties Way off Highway 14 in the Municipality of Chester.
Residents who live within 800 metres of this area are asked to evacuate the area immediately.
A Comfort Centre has been opened at the Chester Basin Fire Hall, located at 5430 Highway 3, in Chester Basin for those affected by the evacuation.
Propane leaks can create the risk of an explosion and, in addition, may cause serious illnesses including fatigue, severe headaches, memory problems, loss of consciousness, breathing difficulties, nosebleeds, chest pains or death. Pets can also be affected.
This alert will be in effect until the leak is contained. Additional updates will be provided to the public as they are received.
