Washed out bridge

ROAD UPDATES - AUGUST 23, 9:30AM:

NEW: Lake Lawson Rd is now OPEN.

BRIDGE CLOSURE - Hawboldt Bridge (Old Stone Bridge) is closed to all traffic from Walker Road to 219 Victoria Street. A detour is in place via Valley Road to Central Street to Main Street. Barricades and signage is in place.

BRIDGE COLLAPSED - Middle River Road. Safe access to Highway 103 for residents of Middle River Road affected by the bridge collapse has now been established.

AVOID Stanford Lake Road as there is an impassable washout at the mid-section. The road is accessible from either end, but not as a throughway.

ROAD OPEN: Both lanes at Goat Lake Bridge on Highway 103, between Exits 7 and 8, have reopened to traffic. Traffic lights have been removed.

PARTIALLY OPEN: Traffic is open to one lane on Highway 3 from Calm Waters Lane to the intersection of Rte 329 and Trunk 3(East River Bridge). Traffic lights are installed.

ROAD OPEN: Trunk 12 from Corn Hill Rd to Highway 3 is OPEN.

ROAD OPEN: Wake Up Hill Rd is OPEN.

ROAD OPEN: Chester Grant Rd is OPEN.

ROAD OPEN: Borgalds Point Road is now OPEN.

ROAD OPEN - Mersey Rd Connector is now open.

PASSABLE - The area near the Rodd & Gun Club is now stabilized.

ROAD OPEN - Victoria Road at Highway 3 in Chester is now open.

ROAD OPEN - Trunk 12 is open from New Ross to Hwy 103.

ROAD OPEN: Canaan Road is open.

Municipal infrastructure

UPDATE: All of the wastewater systems are functioning and sidewalks are usable EXCEPT FOR SECTIONS OF CHESTER BASIN SIDEWALK THAT ARE UNSAFE. We have updated the previous report below to reflect the newest information from our crew.

Our Public Works crew have been operating on very little rest since Friday night. Damage to municipal infrastructure (other than the devastation of trails) includes the loss of the pumping station at Stanford Lake Road, minor damage to Lake Road in Mill Cove (municipal), UV room flooded at Chester Sewer Treatment Plant, Wastewater treatment plant building in Western Shore has some flooding, driveway is washed out, and the fence is damaged.

Evacuation of Rayport Campground

The Municipality of Lunenburg has issued a mandatory evacuation of Rayport Campground and all residents of Shingle Mill Road north of Highway 103 in Martins River. Given the proximity, we will keep residents updated on the status.
