Trail Update: September 7, 2023
We have opened another section of the Chester Connection Trail. The trail is open from Boehner Road in Western Shore to Martins River. For a complete list of all trail closures on the Rum Runners trail system, please visit https://destinationtrailsnovascotia.com/trails/rum-runners-trail/.

The Rum Runners Trail from Halifax to Lunenburg was severely damaged by the major flash flooding event in July.
The Aspotogan Trail section from Hubbards to East River has reopened. However, the Chester Connection Trail from East River to Martins River remains closed while repairs are underway, including Castle Rock. The section from Duncan Road (East Chester) to Smith Road (Chester) is open.
Trail users are asked to continue to respect trail closures as dangerous conditions remain and heavy equipment and crews are on the trail making repairs.
