Subdivisions

Subdivision Approval must be received any time the boundaries of a parcel of land are altered. This includes creating new lots from a larger parcel, consolidating two or more lots, or changing the boundary between adjacent lots. There are very few exceptions to either of these situations.

Most subdivision approvals require a Plan of Subdivision, but some can be done with a simpler document called an Instrument of Subdivision. Your surveyor can prepare either document for you and can guide you through the process.

Every subdivision is different, and may require the services of a Surveyor, Qualified Person, or Lawyer, depending on the specific situation. For more information on subdivisions, or to discuss your particular case, please contact our Community Development Office.

Our processing time for ordinary applications is about 8 to 10 weeks.

Fees are shown on the application.
